The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) recognized the design and endorsed it as their official timepiece. It gained fame among pilots and enthusiasts alike. and even flew into space with astronaut Scott Carpenter in '62. Stars such as Miles Davis and Serge Gainsbourg also represented it. proving its fashionable appeal. Breitling has since produced several updated versions of the Navitimer. like this new 46mm Automatic Gents Watch. It features modern refinements such as a flat slide rule. domed crystal. alternating metal finishes. and a return of the classic AOPA wings at 12 o'clock.
